BAGS v Strawberry Hill Ladies
Our annual event against Strawberry Hill Ladies started with a briefing on hole playing order due to work to create a pond on the course.

This year the format was match play even though one group decided to play stableford and another group played a matchplay format where they recorded points for winning a hole, even half points if the hole was halved ending with a score of 12½ to 5½, but after redoing the scorecards in the clubhouse it still resulted in BAGS winning 5 - 1..

Following the match we were served an excellent supper, this is an event that if you haven’t played in then you should get your name down for it next year.

Tyrrells Wood Day Meeting
Well we didn't get sunburnt on the second attempt to play this course, a misty drizzle persisted for much of the day but the course was in excellent condition.

We had 5 guest join us for the day and hopefully we see more of them in the future.

The winner of the Billy White trophy was Joe Tiwana with an excellent 40 points, in 2nd place with 36 points was Rod Wesson and in 3rd place on 35 points was Dave Skiggs.

Goring & Streatley Day Meeting
A new course for the society with great views played on a pleasant warm day.

The course was green which is something we haven't seen for a few months and in excellent condition. The morning started with 9 holes Dubai Stableford team game which was won by Jeff Thomas, Joe Tiwana & Chris Walker, this was followed a by lunch and then onto the 18 holes stableford game for the Lamplugh Trophy.

The result was a win for Craig Anderson with 39 points, in 2nd place on 38 points was Stan Knollman and in 3rd place Chris Walker on 35 points.

Malcolm
To all members.

For those who are unaware, we lost Malcolm Coleman last night (Wednesday 12th August) after a short illness.

Malcolm was a past Captain, a valued committee member and a dear friend to many of us.

Malcolm's organisation skills gave us day meetings to savour, his sense of humour coupled with the fun loving outlook he had, will be greatly missed.

Jeff will keep us updated on any further info.

It just needs me to say, I'm sure for all of us.

Rest in Peace dear Malcolm.

Stan, Chairman.

Calcot Match Result
What a scorcher, that's all I need to say about the weather, the course was very dry and we were entertained with tree felling whilst playing the match.

Well onto the match which to be honest we thought we were onto our normal hammering by the host club but it was not to be with BAGS 5½ to Calcot 2½, well done to all the team and of course our stand in Captain Stan.

Following the golf we all had a well deserved drink on the patio on a barmy summers evening.

Harleyford Day Meeting
We had 25 members and 1 guest attend the day which had varying weather. Generally dry with periods of sun and just the one short period of rain to cool everyone off.

The course was, as expected in excellent condition and a good test of course management.

The greens proved challenging with both their speed and contours however all reports are that all enjoyed the experience.

One such person who made it all look like a walk in the park was Satinder who won two of the 3 NTP and came 3rd overall.

The first par 3 of the NTP set was not bothered by anyone, also we had no 2's (a new prize introduced this year).

The Weir Cup was won by Chris Walker and the Scratch Cup by Satinder Sandhu.

Well done to all.

Virgin match result
A new match for us was against Virgin which was held at Royal Ascot, the Virgin team consisted of all engineers who haven't played in matches before, so a new experience for them to the point that they had new shirts printed for the event.

Back to the match, we started with a bacon roll which was much appreciated as there was a cold wind blowing when we started but by the end of the golf it was warmish.

The format was singles match play which we managed to win 7 - 5, following the golf we had bangers and mash, again a good choice for the day, this was followed by prizes being presented to spot prize winners and a new trophy being presented to Colin by the captain of the Virgin team, Darren.
